Steve began his entertainment industry career on the shop floor of his local HMV back in 1999. After 7 years in various departments and stores he moved to HMV head office, where he spent five years creating and managing catalogue promotions for the website and 250+ store portfolio. Negotiating high profile deals with the studios and indie distributors gave Steve his first direct connection with the film industry. In 2011 Steve joined fledgling distributor 101 Films as Head of Acquisitions. The first few years were spent building the label up with mainly genre content, then in 2014 the label received significeant financing, which meant the size and scale of acquisitions grew to cast-led content and high-profile festival features. By the time Steve left 101 Films for a new challenge in 2022, the label had a library of over 3,000 titles and was one of the biggest indie distributors in the UK.
