Evolutionary Films entered the entertainment industry at a time of unprecedented change, challenge – and opportunity – for the independent film sector. Revenues from the traditional DVD markets were falling, while the newer forms of distribution through transactional digital platforms (eg. iTunes) and subscription-video-on-demand (SVoD) channels (eg. Netflix) were still finding their feet.
Continued year-on-year growth within this uncertain market has meant a proven business model, outlasting several competitors and the company now finds itself poised to capitalise on the vast potential of the re-adjusted global content market.
Evolutionary Films funded the initial set up of its business infrastructure by raising private equity under the UK Government backed Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) and inviting shareholders to join the company on its journey. Evolutionary Films has been authorised by UK HMRC on multiple occasions to issue EIS3 certificates to individual investors providing them the ability to permanently write off hundreds of thousands of pounds in income tax and defer a similar amount of capital gains. The company has also used the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) to establish Evolutionary Film Productions and Evolutionary Film Distribution.
Evolutionary Films continues to attract investment from traditional film industry sources as well as tax efficient private equity under EIS in order to continue to grow the business into a mini-major that is renowned as a quality partner for production, international sales and UK distribution.
Shareholders in Evolutionary Films get as much information and involvement in the activities of the company as possible, so in addition to the potential tax incentives and financial benefits of investing in the entertainment business, there are also a number of lifestyle perks such as:
Invitations to script read-throughs and production meetings;
Visits to active film sets and the opportunity to meet the cast and crew;

Award ceremonies, gala receptions and exclusive shareholder screenings.
